Join us for ‘A Tale of Gamers’

Recently a few members of the community were talking about doing a ‘Tale of Gamers’, and we loved the idea so decided to get involved (it also means I may end up with a full painted army! – Matt).

For those that don’t know a Tale of Gamers is where a group get together and all build and paint a new army over a few months – that’s exactly what we plan to do!

Our Tale of Gamers will commence on October 1st 2018 and will run for 6 months.

Every month those taking part will have a budget to spend and will be awarded points based on how they get on. The objective at the end of 6 months is to have a fully painted and legal 2,000pt army for Age of Sigmar.

Budget:

  • £50 per month – unspent money is carried over to the next month
  • Only models count – Battletomes, rules, and other accessories are outside of the spending limit

Points – Per Month:

  • +1pt – All Models Built
  • +1pt – All Models Undercoated
  • +1pt – All Models Have Paint On
  • +2pts – All Models Painted & Based
  • +5pts – One or more games played at Weagles or in Store
  • + Var – In month 6 only, we’ll have a vote for people favourite army

Games:

To help people’s armies grow there will also be a monthly point’s limit for games. These are a guide and do not have be be adhered to, agree the game size with your opponent before you play.

In month 1 armies do not have to be legal, this is to help out those that want to take part that don’t have getting started boxes for their faction. As long as you can field 1 unit in month 1 then you’re good to get a game in

The suggested points are::

  • Month 1 – 500pts
  • Month 2 – 750pts
  • Month 3 – 1,000pts
  • Month 4 – 1,250pts
  • Month 5 – 1,500pts
  • Month 6 – 2,000pts

Prizes:

At the end of the 6 months the two people to score the highest points scores will get a prize from Langden Games in the form of store credit.

At the start of each month we’ll need to know the purchases you’ve made and at the end of the month we’ll need to see what progress you’ve made! Points and monthly standings will be posted on our website and FB Page.

FAQ’s:

Q: Are conversions allowed and how do they count towards the monthly budget?

A: Conversions are indeed allowed, in terms of impact on the budget most of the time they will revolve around a base model – if so use this as the amount from your budget. If you’re nit sure on the cost let us know and we’ll agree it 🙂

Q: Can I go over budget?

A: Ideally not, but in month 1 it’s not the end of the world, however, if you go over budget it won’t be available for month 2.

Q: When can I start?

A: The tale of gamers starts on 1st October, you can order your models at any point but don’t start working on them until 1st October. We’d like a picture of your unstarted models on the 1st of each month and your final progress on the last day of each month.

Q: How do things like Soul Wars count towards the budget?

A: They’ll be the equivalent of a getting started box, so with ToG/Club discount will be £37.50 of your budget.

Q: What do participants need to do?

A: Tell us that you’re taking part and tell us what army you’re using. Each month we then need to to know your purchases so we can record the amount of budget spent. We then need a picture of your unstarted models at the start of each month and a picture of your progress at the end of the month.

Q: What counts as part of the budget?

A: If it has a points cost in your army then it counts as part of your budget, if they are free or summoned units they don’t count as part of your monthly budget.

Q: What do I do if I have questions?

A: Post in the Langden Games Group, comment on this post, or email store@langdengames.co.uk
